1. Duke Blue Devils (ACC auto)
16-1 overall; 3-1 conference; 4-0 vs. RPI Top 50; 5-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 6-0 vs. RPI 150+; 5-1 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 129 Loss: 68
RPI: 10
SOS: 52
Last Week: lost at Florida State 66-61, def. Virginia 76-60
This Week: at N.C. State (Wed.), at Wake Forest (Sat.)
Might the Blue Devils be wobbling a bit? They followed up a loss at Florida State with a not totally convincing win over Virginia (which the Cavaliers led at halftime). You can bet an NC State team that's in need of a marquee win will look to put Duke to the test. Remember, the Wolfpack toppled the Dukies in Raleigh last year.

16. Maine Black Bears (America East auto)
9-7 overall; 4-1 conference; 0-1 vs. RPI Top 50; 2-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 7-4 vs. RPI 150+; 5-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 207 Loss: 161
RPI: 205
SOS: 394
Last Week: won at Albany 66-64, def. Binghamton 77-51
This Week: at Vermont (Tue.), Stony Brook (Sat.)
The Black Bears are best known for their win over new bracket entrant Penn State, but they're a legit contender for the America East's bid. Those credentials will be put to the test against 3-1 Vermont tomorrow night in Burlington.

8. Arizona Wildcats (Pac-10 at-large)
Last Week: 10
15-3 overall; 4-1 conference; 0-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 8-1 vs. RPI 150+; 4-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 167 Loss: 75
RPI: 28
SOS: 69
Last Week: def. Arizona State 80-69
This Week: at Washington (Thu.), at Washington State (Sat.)
After handling the Sun Devils Saturday, the Wildcats can take control of the Pac-10 race with a sweep of the stumbling Washington schools this week. Still, Arizona's seed suffers because their best two wins are a home sweep of the Bay Area schools.

9. Oklahoma St. Cowboys (Big 12 at-large)
Last Week: 7
Record: 13-4 overall; 1-2 conference; 2-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 1-2 vs. RPI 51-100; 7-0 vs. RPI 150+; 4-4 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 174 Loss: 52
RPI: 42
SOS: 74
Last Week: lost at Texas A&M 71-48, lost at Colorado 75-71
This Week: Iowa State (Wed.), at Baylor (Sat.)
The Cowboys dropped two games this week and need to stop that streak now or risk falling out of the field entirely, like Saturday's opponent, Baylor.

5. West Virginia Mountaineers (Big East at-large)
Last Week: 8
12-4 overall; 3-2 conference; 4-3 vs. RPI Top 50; 2-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 3-0 vs. RPI 150+; 5-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 101 Loss: 34
RPI: 9
SOS: 5
Last Week: def. Providence 93-63, def. Purdue 68-64
This Week: Marshall (N) (Wed.), USF (Sun.)
The Mountaineers climb a couple of lines this week, thanks to Sunday's exciting win over Purdue. They cannot overlook either of this week's contests, especially their in-state rivalry game in Charleston against Marshall.

12A. Florida St. Seminoles (ACC at-large)
13-5 overall; 3-1 conference; 1-3 vs. RPI Top 50; 1-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 9-1 vs. RPI 150+; 5-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 195 Loss: 87
RPI: 68
SOS: 93
Last Week: def. Duke 66-61, def. NC State 74-61
This Week: at Miami (Wed.), Boston College (Sat.)
The Seminoles claimed a huge win over Duke, then followed it up with a convincing performance over a mediocre NC State team. I have FSU down in the First Four, however, because of that terrible loss to Auburn (RPI 311) back on January 5th. No team in the field has a setback that disheartening.

12B. Old Dominion Monarchs (CAA at-large)
Record: 13-4 overall; 4-2 conference; 2-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 5-0 vs. RPI 150+; 6-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 148 Loss: 61
RPI: 31
SOS: 49
Last Week: lost at Drexel 62-57, won at Hofstra 75-64
This Week: James Madison (Wed.), VCU (Sat.), UNC Wilmington (Mon.)
The Monarchs continue to hang around, as they followed up a disappointing road loss to Drexel Thursday with a win at Hofstra, one that knocked the Pride off the top of the CAA table. Dayton and Richmond's losses this week negatively impacted ODU's computer numbers, however.

4. Illinois Fighting Illini (Big Ten at-large)
Last Week: 3
13-5 overall; 3-2 conference; 3-3 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 5-1 vs. RPI 150+; 4-5 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 131 Loss: 86
RPI: 34
SOS: 23
Last Week: lost at Penn State 57-55, lost at Wisconsin 76-66
This Week: Michigan State (Tue.), Ohio State (Sat.)
The Illini, once again, are at a crossroads after two difficult road defeats. They'll return to Champaign with the opportunity to grab a pair of instant resume boosts, against a Spartan team that's finding their way in Big Ten play and the top-ranked Buckeyes.

13. Belmont Bruins (Atlantic Sun auto)
Last Week: 14
Record: 16-3 overall; 8-0 conference; 0-3 vs. RPI Top 50; 1-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 13-0 vs. RPI 150+; 6-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 220 Loss: 23
RPI: 80
SOS: 284
Last Week: def. Lipscomb 88-52, def. Campbell 90-55
This Week: at USC Upstate (Fri.), at East Tennessee State (Sun.)
The Bruins continue to demolish teams in the Atlantic Sun, but they have to be regretting three losses to Tennessee and Vanderbilt after watching those teams struggle in Knoxville on Saturday. Sunday's road game at ETSU could be the most difficult Belmont plays until March.

6. Georgetown Hoyas (Big East at-large)
Last Week: 4
13-5 overall; 2-4 conference; 3-5 vs. RPI Top 50; 2-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 6-0 vs. RPI 150+; 7-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 135 Loss: 14
RPI: 8
SOS: 2
Last Week: lost to Pittsburgh 72-57, won at Rutgers 74-65
This Week: at Seton Hall (Tue.)
Have the Hoyas stopped their slide? Saturday's win (and Tuesday's game at the Hall) may not be conclusive enough, though Austin Freeman looked like his normal self against the Scarlet Knights. Georgetown's good early work and the strength of its losses are keeping the team in the frame for a protected seed.

11. Virginia Tech Hokies (ACC at-large)
Last Week: 12
Record: 11-5 overall; 2-2 conference; 1-4 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 7-0 vs. RPI 150+; 5-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 191 Loss: 48
RPI: 73
SOS: 73
Last Week: lost at North Carolina 64-61, def. Wake Forest 94-65
This Week: at Maryland (Thu.), Longwood (Sat.)
The Hokies' win over Florida State last week is looking better and better, but their come from ahead loss at Chapel Hill on Saturday could be a missed opportunity. Thursday's game against a Maryland team that's in dire need of a decent win will be very interesting.

3. Texas Longhorns (Big 12 at-large)
Last Week: 4
14-3 overall; 2-0 conference; 3-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 0-1 vs. RPI 51-100; 9-0 vs. RPI 150+; 4-2 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 179 Loss: 33
RPI: 41
SOS: 65
Last Week: won at Texas Tech 83-52, def. Oklahoma 66-46
This Week: Texas A&M (Wed.), at Kansas (Sat.)
The Longhorns picked up a pair of easy wins to open Big 12 play, but will find the going considerably tougher this week.

14. Bucknell Bison (Patriot auto)
12-7 overall; 3-0 conference; 0-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 1-3 vs. RPI 51-100; 9-1 vs. RPI 150+; 7-6 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 199 Loss: 93
RPI: 82
SOS: 131
Last Week: won at American 75-60, def. Holy Cross 74-72
This Week: vs. Lafayette (Wed.), vs. Colgate (Sat.)
The Bison followed up a resounding win over American in D.C. with a tough home victory over Holy Cross, who has won only three times all year. Still, they needed a Mike Muscala three in the dying seconds to pick up their third Patriot League win and remain perfect in the conference.

7. Georgia Bulldogs (SEC at-large)
Last Week: 8
13-3 overall; 2-1 conference; 1-3 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 8-0 vs. RPI 150+; 5-3 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 180 Loss: 22
RPI: 38
SOS: 84
Last Week: lost at Vanderbilt 73-66, def. Mississippi 98-76
This Week: Tennessee (Tue.), Mississippi State (Sat.)
The Bulldogs stay steady this week after following a tough loss at Nashville with a bus trip to Oxford, where they put on a clinic in dominating the reeling Rebels. Next up, the two most unpredictable teams in the conference (and perhaps country).

10. Cincinnati Bearcats (Big East at-large)
16-2 overall; 3-2 conference; 1-2 vs. RPI Top 50; 3-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 10-0 vs. RPI 150+; 3-2 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 201 Loss: 7
RPI: 51
SOS: 216
Last Week: def. USF 74-66, lost at Syracuse 67-52
This Week: at Notre Dame (Wed.), at St. John's (Sat.)
The Bearcats' computer numbers are rapidly improving because of Big East play, but that won't matter if they can't start winning games on the road. Two more stern tests await this week.

2. San Diego St. Aztecs (MWC auto)
Last Week: 3
17-0 overall; 4-0 conference; 4-0 vs. RPI Top 50; 5-0 vs. RPI 51-100; 3-0 vs. RPI 150+; 11-0 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 98 Loss: 0
RPI: 2
SOS: 24
Last Week: def. UNLV 55-49, won at New Mexico 87-77
This Week: Air Force (Wed.)
San Diego State is answering the bell, as they took care of UNLV at home, then grabbed a bigger than expected win at The Pit on Saturday. They, justifiably, move up to the two line, staying in the West region.

15. Austin Peay Governors (Ohio Valley auto)
10-7 overall; 6-1 conference; 0-1 vs. RPI Top 50; 0-2 vs. RPI 51-100; 8-2 vs. RPI 150+; 7-6 Road/Neutral
Average RPI win: 180 Loss: 108
RPI: 103
SOS: 170
Last Week: lost at Tennessee State 76-74 (OT)
This Week: Tennessee Tech (Thu.), Jacksonville State (Sat.)
The Governors finally lost a league game, even though they rallied to force overtime in Nashville on Saturday. Still, the Govs own a game lead on both Murray State and Tennessee State heading into a pair of home games.
