SoCon Championship

Game 9: No. 7 Mercer (18-10, 8-9) vs. No. 1 UNCG (20-8, 13-5), 7 p.m. (ESPN)
The Spartans swept the season series 2-0 (home-and-home).

UNCG is the last higher seed standing in Asheville, as Mercer took down second-seeded Wofford in the quarterfinals and sixth-seeded VMI (who eliminated No. 3 Furman) in last night’s second semifinal. The Spartans, led by one of the nation’s top point guards, Isaiah Miller, are looking for their first NCAA bid since 2018. As for the Bears, they last qualified as an ASUN member in 2014, when they famously recorded a 14-over-3 upset of Duke.

Sun Belt Championship

Game 11: East No. 4 Appalachian State (16-11, 7-8) vs. East No. 1 Georgia State (16-5, 8-4), 7 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Mountaineers won the season series 2-1 (two home wins, one road loss).

After topping West No. 1 seed Texas State in an overtime thriller on Saturday night, App State did it again, knocking off East second seed Coastal Carolina after the extra session last night. That gives the Mountaineers a chance to defeat Georgia State for a third time this year. If successful, Appalachian State will qualify for the NCAAs for the first time since 2000, when Michael Jordan’s former UNC roommate, Buzz Peterson, was the coach. The Panthers’ NCAA drought is non-existent, as they were the Sun Belt’s last NCAA rep. However, Ron Hunter, GSU’s coach for that trip is now at Tulane, and former Siena coach Rob Lanier now leads the Panthers.

CAA Semifinals

CBSSN will air both games.

Game 7: No. 8 Elon (9-8, 4-7) vs. No. 4 Hofstra (13-9, 8-6), 6 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 8: No. 6 Drexel (10-7, 4-5) vs. No. 2 Northeastern (10-8, 8-2), 9:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.

While top-seeded host James Madison and third-seeded Charleston were eliminated on Sunday, the last two CAA Tournament winners, Northeastern and Hofstra, will look to set up a third straight title showdown tonight. The pressure is on the Pride who did not get to end a tournament drought that dates to 2001 even with a win in 2020.

Horizon Semifinals

Game 9: No. 8 Milwaukee (10-11, 7-10) vs. No. 1 Cleveland State (17-7, 16-4), 6:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
The pair split their two meetings (at Cleveland State).
Game 10: No. 4 Northern Kentucky (14-10, 11-7) vs. No. 3 Oakland (11-17, 10-10), 9:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
The pair have not met this season.

The Horizon League’s four quarterfinals, held last Tuesday, were decided by 11 total points and featured five total overtime periods. Despite that, only second-seeded Wright State was eliminated out of the top four, though their conquerors, the Milwaukee Panthers, will next turn their attention to No. 1 Cleveland State as action shifts to Indianapolis. Northern Kentucky, meanwhile, resumes its push for a fourth Horizon Tournament title in the past four seasons.

Summit Semifinals

Midco SN will air and ESPN+ ($) will stream both games.

Game 5: No. 4 Oral Roberts (14-10, 10-5) vs. No. 1 South Dakota State (16-6, 9-3), 6:45 p.m.
The season series was a 1-1 split (at ORU).
Game 6: No. 3 North Dakota State (14-11, 11-5) vs. No. 2 South Dakota (14-10, 11-4), 9:45 p.m.
The Bison won the conference series 2-0 (on the road), while the Coyotes won a neutral non-conference game.

Oral Roberts prevented a Dakotas sweep, which is probably for the best considering how the Summit’s four North and South Dakota schools not only met in league play but in a non-conference showcase at the Sanford Pentagon as well.

WCC Semifinals

Game 7: No. 4 Saint Mary’s (14-8, 4-6) vs. No. 1 Gonzaga (24-0, 15-0), 9 p.m. (ESPN)
The Bulldogs swept the season series 2-0 (home-and-home).
Game 8: No. 3 Pepperdine (12-11, 7-6) vs. No. 2 BYU (19-5, 10-3), 12 a.m. 03/09 (ESPN2)
The season series was a 1-1 home split.

Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine got Sunday off after their Saturday quarterfinal wins, while the top two seeds take the Orleans Arena floor for the first time tonight. The only way a new at-large team will make its way into the field after tonight is if both Gonzaga and BYU fall.

MAAC First Round (Night One)

Game 1: No. 11 Rider (5-16, 5-13) vs. No. 6 Canisius (7-5, 7-5), 7 p.m. (ESPN3)
The pair have not met this season.

Thanks to the MAAC’s tournament format, which features quarterfinal doubleheaders on separate days, tonight’s winner won’t take the floor again until they meet the No. 3 seed on Thursday night in Atlantic City. Tomorrow’s two victors, on the other hand, have to play the top two seeds on Wednesday.
