Final 2021 Schmolik 64!

Hello, college basketball fans!

Editor's note: I said "This will be the bracket IF all five favorites win today (in other words, it's not final)."

Well the bracket gods smiled on me so here you go!

It's the day we've been waiting TWO years for, Selection Sunday!

For the first time this season, I will be assigning teams to dates, either Fri/Sun or Sat/Mon. The assignment is simple, teams on the same half of one bracket will be scheduled for the same day, the four halves of the bracket that contain a First Four game will be played on Saturday and Monday, the other four halves will be on Friday and Sunday. BYU was obviously assigned to a Saturday/Monday bracket. Because there are six sites listed for the first round games and I couldn't find how many games are assigned to which site(s), I will not be assigning teams to any particular site.

Highest NET left out: Penn State (42, sub .500 record), St. Louis (43), Arizona (44, self imposed probation), Duke (49), Boise State (50)

Comments:

For the first time I can remember, teams left out in order because these are the teams that would be called in case a team gets pulled.

1. Louisville

2. Colorado State

3. Duke

4. St. Louis

Assuming no COVID pullouts, they would be the four #1 seeds in the NIT. Don't ask me to list the full NIT bracket.

According to early Bracket Matrix data, very few people have Mississippi and most have Louisville. Here's some relevant Quad data:

Mississippi: NET #53, Quad 1: 3-5, Quad 2: 4-4, Quad 3: 4-2, Quad 4: 4-0
Louisville: NET #57, Quad 1: 1-6, Quad 2: 6-0, Quad 3: 4-1, Quad 4: 2-0
