Patriot League Semifinals

CBSSN will air both games.

Game 6: No. 9 Loyola Maryland (5-10) at No. 4 Army West Point (13-8, 7-7), 5:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 7: No. 6 Bucknell (5-6, 4-6) at No. 2 Colgate (12-1, 11-1), 7:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.

Thanks to the Patriot League’s regional scheduling, today’s semifinals are a pair of first meetings for 2021. Loyola created headlines by topping No. 1 seed Navy in Annapolis on Saturday. Now, the Greyhounds will need to eliminate another service academy to secure a place in Sunday afternoon’s final.

MAAC Quarterfinals (Night One)

ESPN+ ($) will stream both games.

Game 4: No. 9 Iona (9-5, 6-3) vs. No. 1 Siena (12-4, 12-4), 5 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 5: No. 7 Fairfield (8-16, 7-11) vs. No. 2 Monmouth (12-7, 12-6), approx. 7:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.

Last night, Iona routed Quinnipiac by 24 to earn a quarterfinal date against top-seeded Siena. On the other hand, Fairfield needed overtime to defeat Manhattan, thanks to a Jasper buzzer-beater to end regulation. Rick Pitino’s Gaels are a trendy pick to win it all in Atlantic City, as they’re a quality team that’s had to deal with lengthy CoVID pauses.

Tonight’s winners get tomorrow off, as the 3/11 and 4/5 games are on tap.

SWAC Quarterfinals (Day One)

ESPN3 will stream both games.

Game 1: No. 7 Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-20, 3-12) vs. No. 2 Jackson State (11-5, 11-0), 3 p.m.
The Tigers won the season series 2-0 (at home).
Game 2: No. 8 Mississippi Valley State (2-21, 2-13) vs. No. 1 Prairie View A&M (14-4, 13-0), 9:30 p.m.
The Panthers won the season series 2-0 (home-and-home).

The SWAC’s tournament schedule is rather because it pairs split quarterfinal doubleheaders with a format where the top seed plays four and a half hours after the No. 2 seed’s game ends. Regardless, like in the MAAC, today’s winners will meet tomorrow’s in Friday’s semifinals.

ACC Second Round

ACC Network will air all four games.

Game 4: No. 9 NC State (13-9, 9-8) vs. No. 8 Syracuse (15-8, 9-7), 12 p.m.
The Orange won both meetings (home-and-home).
Game 5: No. 13 Miami (Fla.) (9-16, 4-15) vs. No. 5 Clemson (16-6, 10-6), approx. 2:30 p.m.
The Tigers won both meetings (home-and-home).
Game 6: No. 10 Duke (12-11, 9-9) vs. No. 7 Louisville (13-6, 8-5), 6:30 p.m.
The Cardinals won both meetings (home-and-home).
Game 7: No. 11 Notre Dame (11-14, 7-11) vs. No. 6 North Carolina (16-9, 10-6), approx. 9 p.m.
The Tar Heels won the pair’s lone meeting (at home).

If you’re a fan of a bubble team, Greensboro will be your primary focus for today. Game one is an elimination game, while you can skip game two, since Clemson’s seeding is really the only thing at stake. The evening session, however, features a must-win game for Duke (and Louisville for that matter, given the Cardinals’ position among the Last Four Byes) and UNC’s attempt to avoid picking up a bad late loss to Notre Dame.

Southland Second Round

ESPN+ ($) will stream both games.

Game 3: No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana (8-17, 5-11) vs. No. 5 New Orleans (9-14, 8-7), 6 p.m.
The season series was a 1-1 home split.
Game 4: No. 10 Houston Baptist (6-18, 4-11) vs. No. 6 Lamar (8-17, 7-10), 9 p.m.
The season series was a 1-1 home split.

The Lions and Huskies won on Tuesday to set up contests with regional rivals. Tonight’s winners will meet fourth-seeded Northwestern State and third-seeded Sam Houston, respectively, in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Big 12 First Round

ESPN will air both games.

Game 1: No. 9 Kansas State (8-19, 4-14) vs. No. 8 TCU (12-13, 5-11), 6:30 p.m.
The season series was a 1-1 road split.
Game 2: No. 10 Iowa State (2-21, 0-18) vs. No. 7 Oklahoma (14-9, 9-8), 9:30 p.m.
The Sooners won the pair’s lone meeting (at ISU).

Tonight’s second game in Kansas City has modest potential to lead to a change in the bracket, as Oklahoma would see its seed drop with a loss to hapless Iowa State.

Big East First Round

FS1 will air all three games.

Game 1: No. 9 Marquette (13-13, 8-11) vs. No. 8 Georgetown (9-12, 7-9), 3 p.m.
The Golden Eagles won the pair’s lone meeting (at GU).
Game 2: No. 10 Butler (9-14, 8-12) vs. No. 7 Xavier (13-7, 6-7), 6 p.m.
The Musketeers swept the season series (home-and-home).
Game 3: No. 11 DePaul (4-13, 2-13) vs. No. 6 Providence (13-12, 9-10), 9 p.m.
The Friars swept the season series (home-and-home).

Similarly, the middle game of the new tripleheader at Madison Square Garden is the only one with bubble impact. If Xavier loses to Butler for the first time this season, the Musketeers will likely find themselves on the outside looking in when tomorrow morning’s bracket arrives.

Big Sky First Round

Pluto.tv will stream all three games.

Game 1: No. 9 Sacramento State (8-11, 5-9) vs. No. 8 Northern Colorado (10-10, 6-8), 11 a.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 2: No. 10 Northern Arizona (5-15, 4-10) vs. No. 7 Portland State (9-12, 6-8), 2 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 3: No. 11 Idaho (1-20, 1-17) vs. No. 6 Montana (13-12, 7-9), 5 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.

Today’s three winners in Boise advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Big Ten First Round

B1G Network will air both games.

Game 1: No. 13 Minnesota (13-14, 6-14) vs. No. 12 Northwestern (9-14, 6-13), 6:30 p.m.
The Wildcats won the pair’s lone meeting (on the road).
Game 2: No. 14 Nebraska (7-19, 3-16) vs. No. 11 Penn State (10-13, 7-12), approx. 9 p.m.
The season series was a 1-1 road split.

Once a bubble team, Minnesota will need to make a run to at least the Big Ten final to have any hope of earning a bid.

C-USA First Round

ESPN+ ($) will stream all four games.

Game 2: East No. 5 Charlotte (9-15, 5-11) vs. West No. 4 UTSA (14-10, 9-7) (Court A), 6:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 3: West No. 6 Rice (14-12, 6-10) vs. East No. 3 Marshall (15-6, 9-5) (Court B), 7 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 4: West No. 5 UTEP (12-11, 8-8) vs. East No. 4 Florida Atlantic (12-9, 7-5) (Court A), 9:30 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 5: East No. 6 Middle Tennessee (5-17, 3-13) vs. West No. 3 North Texas (13-9, 9-5) (Court B), 10 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.

Conference USA was yet another league that stuck to largely regional scheduling in 2020-21. That means there are a quartet of first-time matchups on offer for today. Rice advanced to its matchup with Marshall by eliminating Southern Mississippi last night.

Mountain West First Round

MWN will stream all three games.

Game 1: No. 9 San José State (5-15, 3-13) vs. No. 8 Wyoming (13-10, 7-9), 2 p.m.
The pair have not met this season.
Game 2: No. 10 Air Force (5-19, 3-17) at No. 7 UNLV (11-14, 8-10), approx. 4:30 p.m.
The Runnin’ Rebels won the season series 2-0 (at home).
Game 3: No. 11 New Mexico (6-15, 2-15) vs. No. 6 Fresno State (11-11, 9-11), approx. 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs won the season series 2-0 (at home).

Today’s winners at the Thomas & Mack Center advance to meet a trio of at-large contenders on Thursday: top-seeded San Diego State, second-seeded Utah State, and third-seeded Colorado State.

Pac-12 First Round

Pac-12 Networks will air all three games.

Game 1: No. 9 Washington State (14-12, 7-12) vs. No. 8 Arizona State (10-13, 7-10), 4 p.m.
The Sun Devils won the pair’s lone meeting (at home).
Game 2: No. 10 Washington (5-20, 4-16) vs. No. 7 Utah (11-12, 8-11), 7 p.m.
The Huskies won the pair’s lone meeting (at home).
Game 3: No. 11 California (8-19, 3-17) vs. No. 6 Stanford (14-12, 10-10), 10 p.m.
The Cardinal swept the season series (home-and-home).

Last season, the Cardinal had 20 wins and likely saw their bubble burst after a loss to California in the last game completed before CoVID stopped everything. In 2021, Stanford has six fewer wins and faces the Golden Bears again.

Note that the Pac-12 first round is one game lighter this year since Arizona is ineligible for the postseason.

SEC First Round

Game 1: No. 13 Texas A&M (8-9, 2-8) vs. No. 12 Vanderbilt (8-15, 3-13), 7 p.m. (SECN)
The pair have not met this season.

And it’s similar story in the SEC, thanks to Auburn’s own self-imposed postseason ban. Tonight’s winner meets fifth-seeded Florida on Thursday in Nashville.
