Quad 1 For Both Teams (1/1: 3 Games)
Top 30 at Top 75
18. Seton Hall Pirates (12-4, 4-0 Big East) at 2. Butler Bulldogs (15-1, 3-0), 6:30 p.m. (FS1)
27. Creighton Bluejays (13-4, 2-2 Big East) at 53. Georgetown Hoyas (11-6, 1-3), 7 p.m. (CBSSN)
5. Auburn Tigers (15-0, 3-0 SEC) at 58. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-7, 1-2), 9 p.m. (ESPN2)
Just one team will remain perfect in Big East play tonight, as Seton Hall travels to Butler. When these two teams last met, the Bulldogs survived a Myles Powell attempt at the buzzer to win 70-68. Both teams were on the bubble last February, but the stakes are much higher tonight. A half-hour later in the Nation’s Capital, Creighton will look to pick up its second straight Big East road win by knocking off a Georgetown team that’s dropped three of its last four. Patrick Ewing has yet to defeat the Bluejays in his Georgetown tenure (0-4).
In the SEC, Auburn travels to Tuscaloosa for the first of two road tests this week. Should the Tigers defeat the Crimson Tide tonight, they’ll again put their perfect record on the line in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon.
Quad 2 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (2/1: 7 Games)
31–75 at Top 75
74. Virginia Cavaliers (11-4, 3-2 ACC) at 14. Florida State Seminoles (14-2, 4-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN2)
70. Tennessee Volunteers (10-5, 2-1 SEC) at 54. Georgia Bulldogs (10-5, 0-2), 7 p.m. (ESPNU)
41. Indiana Hoosiers (13-3, 3-2 Big Ten) at 30. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (12-4, 3-2), 7 p.m. (BTN)
57. Xavier Musketeers (12-5, 1-3 Big East) at 42. Marquette Golden Eagles (11-5, 1-3), 8 p.m. (FSN)
68. Texas Longhorns (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) at 69. Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-6, 0-3), 8 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
71. Iowa State Cyclones (8-7, 1-2 Big 12) at 1. Baylor Bears (13-1, 3-0), 8 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
38. Penn State Nittany Lions (12-4, 2-3 Big Ten) at 40. Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-7, 3-3), 9 p.m. (BTN)
Seven teams—ranging from a pair that’s relatively safely in the field right now (Indiana and Penn State) to a whole crop of bubble teams—hit the road for potentially vital road wins. Of course, some of these opportunities (Virginia at FSU, IU at Rutgers, and Iowa State at Baylor) look far more valuable than others. Note that both Big 12 games in the group ended up shuffled onto the Big 12 Now service on ESPN+.
Quad 1 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (1/2: 2 Games)
Top 30 at 76–135
26. Kentucky Wildcats (12-3, 3-0 SEC) at 121. South Carolina Gamecocks (8-7, 0-2), 6:30 p.m. (SECN)
10. Wichita State Shockers (15-1, 3-0 AAC) at 88. Temple Owls (9-6, 1-3), 9 p.m. (ESPNU)
Both Kentucky and Wichita State will look to remain perfect in conference play by winning road games against league rivals who have failed to live up to expectations so far this January.
Quad 2 For Both Teams (2/2: 1 Game)
31–75 at 76–135
65. St. John’s Red Storm (12-5, 1-3 Big East) at 91. Providence Friars (10-7, 3-1), 8:30 p.m. (FS1)
On Friday night, Providence finally dropped a Big East game (at Butler), while St. John’ won its first conference contest of 2020 a little less than 24 hours later (at home against DePaul). The Friars really need to keep winning in league play to make up for their disappointing 7-6 non-conference mark.
Quad 1 For Host/Quad 3 For Visitor (1/3: 1 Game)
Top 30 at 136–240
11. Stanford Cardinal (14-2, 3-0 Pac-12) at 151. UCLA Bruins (8-8, 1-2), 10 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks National, Bay Area & L.A.)
While Stanford opened Pac-12 play with three straight wins, all of those victories came on the Farm. Now, the Cardinal hit the road for three in a row. And while Jerod Haase’s squad won its lone road game of the season, that came at San José State.
Quad 3 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (3/1: 3 Games)
76–160 at Top 75
83. Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes (10-5, 2-3 ACC) at 52. NC State Wolfpack (11-5, 2-3), 7 p.m. (ACC RSNs/ACCNX)
132. Vanderbilt Commodores (8-7, 0-2 SEC) at 24. Arkansas Razorbacks (13-2, 3-1), 8:30 p.m. (SECN)
78. SMU Mustangs (12-3, 2-1 AAC) at 49. Houston Cougars (12-4, 2-1), 9 p.m. (CBSSN)
With Vanderbilt looking like the SEC’s worst team, NC State and Houston will encounter the biggest challenges in this group of three games. This is the first of two straight crucial home games for the Wolfpack, as they welcome a Clemson team that’s been on a bit of a roll of late (including an 81-70 win over State at Littlejohn on January 4th) on Saturday. As for the Cougars, they cannot get caught looking ahead to Saturday’s trip to Wichita, particularly after Saturday’s road loss to Tulsa.
Quad 3 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (3/2: 4 Games)
76–160 at 76–135
153. Boston College Eagles (9-7, 3-2 ACC) at 84. Syracuse Orange (9-7, 2-3), 6:30 p.m. (ACCN)
99. Western Carolina Catamounts (12-3, 4-0 SoCon) at 81. Furman Paladins (14-4, 4-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
89. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-6, 1-4 ACC) at 86. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-8, 3-3), 8:30 p.m. (ACCN)
82. New Mexico Lobos (15-3, 4-1 MW) at 125. Colorado State Rams (11-7, 2-3), 9 p.m. (ESPN3)
While it’s weird to see two ACC games in this quartet, both Syracuse and Georgia Tech will have opportunities to better position themselves in the conference race. In the SoCon, Furman will look to knock off a surprising WCU team that stands as the league’s lone undefeated team. However, Mark Prosser’s squad has yet to play (or defeat) anyone from the Furman/ETSU/UNCG/Wofford lead pack. In the Mountain West, New Mexico hits the road aiming to remain one loss behind San Diego State in the conference race, while keeping their place in the NET Top 100.
Quad 2 For Host/Quad 3 For Visitor (2/3: 1 Game)
31–75 at 136–240
66. Rhode Island Rams (10-5, 2-1 A 10) at 220. Saint Joseph’s Hawks (3-13, 0-4), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Rhody will look to follow its impressive win at Virginia Commonwealth Rams on Saturday by taking care of business against a struggling Saint Joe’s squad that’s won just one of its last 13 contests.
Quad 4 For Host/Quad 1 For Visitor (4/1: 3 Games)
161–353 at Top 75
285. Fordham Rams (6-9, 0-3 A 10) at 47. Duquesne Dukes (14-2, 4-0), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
280. Samford Bulldogs (8-10, 2-2 SoCon) at 62. ETSU Buccaneers (15-3, 4-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
161. Valparaiso Crusaders (9-8, 2-2 MVC) at 39. Northern Iowa Panthers (14-2, 3-1), 8 p.m. (PSN/ESPN+ ($))
This trio of conference favorites/leaders should all be able to defend their home floors against second-division squads this evening.
Quad 3 For Both Teams (3/3: 1 Game)
76–160 at 136–240
92. Bradley Braves (12-5, 3-1 MVC) at 143. Missouri State Bears (8-9, 2-2), 8 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Quad 4 For Host/Quad 2 For Visitor (4/2: 1 Game)
161–353 at 76–135
246. Evansville Purple Aces (9-8, 0-4 MVC) at 94. Indiana State Sycamores (9-6, 2-2), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
The Bears and Sycamores are two of the five teams stuck on 2-2 in Valley play. Both have opportunities to get themselves a third league win tonight, though Indiana State’s challenge isn’t quite as stiff as Missouri State’s.
Quad 3 For Host/Quad 4 For Visitor (3/4: 2 Games)
76–160 at 241–353
79. UNCG Spartans (13-5, 3-2 SoCon) at 289. The Citadel Bulldogs (6-9, 0-4), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
92. Vermont Catamounts (11-6, 1-1 AE) at 332. Binghamton Bearcats (7-9, 1-2), 7 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
Both UNCG and Vermont can’t afford to pick up bad road losses given their positions in their respective conference races.
