Note: At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a lineup broken down by quality, then time.

Reminders of the different groupings are in the table below. Since there are still a handful of neutral-site contests left this calendar year, I’ve included those classifications for the time being.

Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Semifinals

Championship

ESPN2 will air both games.

3/1 44. Houston Cougars (8-3) vs. 156. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-5), approx. 7 p.m.
2/2 33. Washington Huskies (9-2) at 114. Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors (8-3), 11 p.m.

Consolation

ESPNU will air both games.

3/4 256. Portland Pilots (8-5) vs. 122. Boise State Broncos (6-5), 4:30 p.m.
2/3 140. Ball State Cardinals (6-5) vs. 92. UTEP Miners (8-3), approx. 1:30 a.m. 12/24

We are still on course for a Houston-Washington final on Wednesday night. This evening, the Cougars—fresh off a 25-point win over Portland in the quarterfinals—meet a Georgia Tech team that surprisingly handled Boise State by a 74-60 count. In the late semifinal, Washington, a 21-point victor over Ball State, takes on the hosts, who won the closest game of the quarterfinal round, 67-63 over UTEP. While Hawai’i has twice made the Diamond Head Classic semifinals, the Rainbow Warriors lost in both 2014 (to the Wichita State Shockers) and 2015 (to the Oklahoma Sooners).

76–160 at 76–135 (1 Game)

Group 2 for the visitor only; Group 3 for the host (2/3)

115. Georgia State Panthers (8-3) at 94. SMU Mustangs (8-2), 7 p.m. (ESPN3)

The Mustangs have dropped two in a row after an 8-0 start, with Friday’s double OT loss to Georgia being particularly painful. As for the Panthers, they’ve won seven straight, including their first two Sun Belt games.

76–160 at 136–240 (Games)

Group 3 for both teams (3/3)

78. San Francisco Dons (10-3) at 198. Fresno State Bulldogs (4-7), 10 p.m. (My TV 53/MWN)

Coming off a 23-win campaign, the Bulldogs have disappointed so far in 2019, but they can win their third in a row by topping a Dons squad that has the potential to do some damage in the WCC race.

161–353 at 76–135 (Games)

Group 2 for the visitor only; Group 4 for the host (2/4)

211. Georgia Southern Eagles (8-4) at 83. Georgia Bulldogs (7-3), 7 p.m. (SECN)

The Bulldogs still have three non-conference games to play before the SEC season tips off on January 7th against the Kentucky Wildcats in Athens. As for the Eagles, they swept the Texas State Bobcats and UT Arlington Mavericks to open Sun Belt play like their in-state league rivals Georgia State.

161–353 at Top 75 (Games)

Group 1 for the visitor only; Group 4 for the host (1/4)

283. Grambling State Tigers (6-6) at 14. Dayton Flyers (9-2), 7 p.m. (Spectrum News 1/ESPN+ ($))

The Flyers will look to rebound from their second loss of the season, which came against the Colorado Buffaloes in Chicago on Saturday night. That happened to be Dayton’s second OT setback of the year. As for the Tigers, an unlikely upset would give them a winning non-conference record, granted four of their victories have come against non-D1 opponents.
