NET Viewing Guide For Sunday, December 22, 2019

Today’s schedule is a bit heavier than that of a typical NFL Sunday. Plus, the final tournament of the calendar year tips off in Honolulu. For a more traditional and complete look at the schedule, visit MattSarzSports.com.

Tables may not appear optimally on mobile devices.

Note: At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a lineup broken down by telecast window. Within each window, I’ve grouped games by importance, then tip time.

Reminders of the different groupings are in the table below. Since we still have quite a few neutral-site contests to come before 2019 closes, I’ve added those classifications for the time being.

Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Quarterfinals

54. Houston Cougars (7-3) vs. 244. Portland Pilots (8-4), 3 p.m. (ESPNU)
177. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-5) vs. 104. Boise State Broncos (6-4), approx. 5:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
130. Ball State Cardinals (6-4) vs. 39. Washington Huskies (8-2), 9:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
90. UTEP Miners (8-2) at 117. Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors (7-3), approx. 12 a.m. 12/23 (ESPN2)

Houston and Washington are fairly heavy favorites to advance to Christmas night’s championship game, but the Huskies will need to be wary of a Ball State squad that won at Georgia Tech in a non-bracketed game for this event. The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, are likely to struggle in their quarterfinal against Boise State. As for the hosts, Hawai’i last reached the semifinals of its own tournament in 2015. The Rainbow Warriors will have a chance tonight against a UTEP team that’s improved, but not that improved yet. Note the Miners’ 20-point defeat at Houston in the pair’s own non-bracketed matchup.

31–75 at 76–135 (2 Games)

Group 2 for both the host and the visitor (2/2)

66. Yale Bulldogs (9-3) at 120. Clemson Tigers (6-5), 4 p.m. (ACCN)
64. Xavier Musketeers (10-2) at 85. TCU Horned Frogs (8-2), 5 p.m. (ESPNU)

Yale begins the ACC portion of its schedule, as the Bulldogs will follow today’s visit to Clemson with a tantalizing matchup against the struggling North Carolina Tar Heels on December 30th. Meanwhile, the Big East/Big 12 Battle concludes in Fort Worth with Xavier looking to pick up the eighth win for their conference in the series.

76–160 at Top 75 (Games)

Group 1 for the visitor only; Group 3 for the host (1/3)

134. South Carolina Gamecocks (7-4) at 32. Virginia Cavaliers (9-1), 3 p.m. (ABC)

Last December 19th, the Cavaliers routed the Gamecocks by a 69-52 score in Columbia. I wouldn’t expect quite so many points this time around given Virginia’s offensive struggles.

Top 50 vs. 101—200 (1 Game)

Group 3 for the team on the left; Group 1 for the team on the right only (3/1)

22. Richmond Spiders (10-1) vs. 150. Radford Highlanders (3-7) at Washington, D.C., approx. 3:30 p.m. (FloHoops.com ($))

Richmond will look to extend its winning streak to six with a game at Alabama scheduled for December 29th.

101—200 vs. 51—100 (Games)

Group 2 for the team on the left only; Group 3 for the team on the right (2/3)

110. New Mexico State Aggies (7-6) vs. 95. Mississippi State Bulldogs (8-2) at Jackson, Miss., 3 p.m. (SECN)

The Bulldogs will look to win their annual Jackson game for the fifth straight season. Miss. State last lost at Mississippi Coliseum in December 2014—to the USC Upstate Spartans in what turned out to be Ricky Ray’s final season.

76–160 at 136–240 (Games)

Group 3 for both the host and visitor (3/3)

99. Davidson Wildcats (5-5) at 142. Loyola Chicago Ramblers (8-4), 3 p.m. (NBCS Chicago/ESPN+ ($))

The Wildcats will look to win three in a row for the first time in what’s been a disappointing season, while the host Ramblers have won five straight. Note that Davidson’s next game is against the Vandy team Loyola defeated on Wednesday night in Phoenix.

161–353 at 76–135 (Games)

Group 2 for the visitor only; Group 4 for the host (2/4)

349. Chicago State Cougars (4-9) at 86. Indiana State Sycamores (6-4), 2 p.m. (ESPN3)
263. Kansas City Roos (6-7) at 105. South Dakota Coyotes (9-4), 4:30 p.m. (MidCo SN/ESPN+ ($))
293. UNCW Seahawks (5-8) at 126. Vanderbilt Commodores (7-4) 8 p.m. (SEC Network+)

161–353 at Top 75 (Games)

Group 1 for the visitor only; Group 4 for the host (1/4)

264. Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons (7-7) at 69. Iowa State Cyclones (6-4), 12 p.m. (Cyclones.tv ($))
170. Lafayette Leopards (7-2) at 53. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (), 1 p.m. (ESPNU)
247. New Hampshire Wildcats (6-5) at 72. UConn Huskies (7-3), 1 p.m. (SNY/ESPN3)
231. Marshall Thundering Herd (5-6) at 24. Northern Iowa Panthers (10-1), 2 p.m. (ESPN+ ($))
343. Houston Baptist Huskies (0-9) at 63. New Mexico Lobos (11-2), 2 p.m. (MWN)
240. Prairie View A&M Panthers (3-8) at 41. Seton Hall Pirates (7-4), 4:30 p.m. (FS1)
280. The Citadel Bulldogs (6-5) at 45. NC State Wolfpack (8-3), 6 p.m. (ACCN)

The 10 teams above are a combined 43–2 in games against Quadrant 4 opposition so far, with the only blemishes being UConn’s home loss to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks and NC State’s Opening Night ACC loss to Georgia Tech.
