Emerald Coast Classic Finals

Host Bracket

Consolation: Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, SEC) vs. VCU Rams (6-1, A 10), approx. 4 p.m. (Emerald Coast TV on YouTube)
Championship: Florida State Seminoles (6-1, ACC) vs. Purdue Boilermakers (4-2, Big Ten), 7 p.m. (CBSSN)

Visitor Bracket

Emerald Coast TV on YouTube will stream both games.

Consolation: Chicago State Cougars (3-5, WAC) vs. Alabama State Hornets (0-6, SWAC), 11 a.m.
Championship: Jacksonville State Gamecocks (2-3, OVC) vs. Chattanooga Mocs (4-3, SoCon), approx. 1:30 p.m.

As usual, ESPN’s Thanksgiving weekend tournaments take Thanksgiving Saturday off to allow Rivalry Week football coverage. That means just four bracketed games feature on today’s schedule and with CBSSN having its own football slate, three of those will be streaming—for free at least.

In last night’s semifinals in Niceville, both Tennessee and VCU suffered their first defeats of the season. Florida State held off the Vols by a 60-57 score, while Purdue won by a very similar scoreline, 59-56, in the nightcap against the Rams. That means we have a rematch of last season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge showdown between the Seminoles and Boilermakers—one that occurred about two hours east in Tallahassee. That was a 73-72 thriller won by FSU, so if tonight’s contest is anything similar, we’re in for a treat. However, this one might not be for those looking for pretty basketball, at least based on Friday’s matchups.

The visitors’ bracket final is a rematch of the 2017 Cayman Islands Classic mainland tournament hosted by Chattanooga. The Mocs lost to Jacksonville State in that title game, 77-75 after overtime.
