College Hoops Viewing Guide For Selection Sunday 2017

Just six games remain before the field of 68 is announced, and just one has bubble implications.

NCAA Basketball: Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament - Davidson vs Rhode Island
The Rams are the lone bubble team that controls its own bid.

All times are Eastern, adjust accordingly.

Ivy League Championship

No. 3 Yale Bulldogs (18-10, 9-5) vs. No. 1 Princeton Tigers (22-6, 14-0), 12 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Tigers swept the season series.

While the Tigers will likely end up as a 13 seed by winning the inaugural Ivy postseason crown, Yale looks more like a 14 if it can pull the upset.

Atlantic 10 Championship

No. 4 Rhode Island Rams (23-9, 13-5) vs. No. 2 VCU Rams (26-7, 14-4), 12:30 p.m. (CBS)
Rhody defeated VCU 69-59 in Kingston on February 25th.

URI has probably done enough to sneak in, but it can end any mystery and avoid the First Four by taking down VCU for a second time.

SEC Championship

No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks (25-8, 12-6) vs. No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats (28-5, 16-2), 1 p.m. (ESPN)
The Wildcats defeated the Razorbacks 97-91 at home on January 7th.

The Wildcats look locked in as the two seed in the South, win or lose, but Arkansas might be able to get out of the 7-8 range with an upset win in Nashville.

Sun Belt Championship

No. 6 Troy Trojans (21-14, 10-8) vs. No. 4 Texas State Bobcats (20-12, 11-7), 2 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Bobcats swept the season series.

On Saturday, the Bobcats upset the top-seeded Texas-Arlington Mavericks, sending them to the NIT, while the Trojans handled the two seed, the Georgia State Panthers. Troy eliminated the third-seeded Georgia Southern Eagles in Friday’s quarterfinals. Needless to say, today’s winner won’t get the 12 or 13 seed UTA would have received.

Big Ten Championship

No 8 Michigan Wolverines (23-11, 10-8) vs. No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers (25-8, 12-6), 3 p.m. (CBS)
The pair split their season series with each winning at home.

The winner here deserves a five seed, but probably won’t get it due to the late tip.

American Athletic Championship

No. 2 Cincinnati Bearcats (29-4, 16-2) vs. No. 1 SMU Mustangs (29-4, 17-1), 3:15 p.m. (ESPN)
The pair split their season series with each winning at home.

With the Connecticut Huskies eliminated, there will be no last-minute bubble drama in Hartford. Today’s winner might get a four seed. I’m not sure the pair have enough quality wins to both end up that high.

The Selection Show

5:30 p.m. (CBS)

Now down to a trim 90 minutes, but who knows when they’ll actually start naming teams.
