Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Finals
7th/8th Place: New Mexico Lobos vs. Washington State Cougars, 1 p.m. (ESPN3)
5th/6th Place: BYU Cougars vs. Northern Iowa Panthers, approx. 3:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
3rd/4th Place: Auburn Tigers at Hawai `i Rainbow Warriors, 6:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
Championship: Harvard Crimson vs. No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners, approx. 9 p.m. (ESPN2)
This season's crop of exempt tournaments concludes with four games at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, only two of which will likely have any impact on March. That total doesn't include the seventh-place game, where the Lobos and the Cougars—both of whom seem to be going nowhere fast—will have to deal with an 8 a.m. Hawai `i time tip.
Game two, however, is a potential bubble game, though both the Cougars and Panthers might need to do something special in their respective conferences to hear their names called as an at-large on March 13th.
The third-place contest, featuring the Tigers and host Rainbow Warriors, should be entertaining, but neither team is in the at-large picture right now.
The same can be said for a rapidly improving Crimson team that might leave O'ahu as the Ivy favorite again, but if they can finish what Hawai `i couldn't on Wednesday night against a Sooner team that's going to be in the chase for a spot on the top line come March, who knows what can happen.
