College Hoops Viewing Guide: February 5, 2014

Wednesday's lackluster schedule is highlighted by the second meeting of the season between Stanford and Cal and Michigan's attempt to knock out Nebraska in Ann Arbor.

All TV info is courtesy Matt's College Sports on TV site. He has many more games listed, particularly ones broadcast only on local channels and in-house cable sports/local interest channels that are not widely available nationwide. You'll also want to check out his listings for information on which conference regional matchups and CSN, FSN, and Root Sports contests (all games listed in these posts marked with an *) are available on which affiliates.

All times are Eastern.

American

USF Bulls (11-11, 2-7) at UCF Knights (9-10, 1-7), 7 p.m. (ESPNews)
Louisville Cardinals (18-4, 7-2) at Houston Cougars (11-11, 3-6), 9 p.m. (ESPNU)

The Cardinals are the only one of the five AAC bid contenders in action tonight, and they face a Cougar team that's won just once since opening the conference season with two consecutive wins.

Atlantic 10

La Salle Explorers (12-9, 4-3) at UMass Minutemen (17-4, 4-3), 7 p.m. (CBS SN)
Dayton Flyers (14-8, 2-5) at George Mason Patriots (7-14, 0-7), 7 p.m. (MASN/WHIO)
Saint Louis Billikens (20-2, 7-0) at St. Joseph's Hawks (15-6, 5-2), 7 p.m. (Comcast Network Philadelphia/FS Midwest Plus/SNY/FCS Pacific/A10 Network, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)

While the Minutemen seek to end their two-game skid against the Explorers in Amherst, the Flyers will look to avoid a potentially resume-sullying loss in Fairfax and the Hawks will attempt to hand the Billikens their first conference loss of the season. Such a result would do wonders for St. Joe's profile.

ACC

Boston College Eagles (6-15, 2-6) at Virginia Cavaliers (17-5, 8-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN2)
Pittsburgh Panthers (18-4, 6-3) at Miami Hurricanes (11-10, 2-6), 7 p.m. (ACC RSNs*/ESPN3)
Virginia Tech Hokies (8-13, 1-8) at Florida State Seminoles (13-8, 4-5), 9 p.m. (ACC RSNs/ESPN3)

The three ACC bid contenders in action tonight should all pick up fairly easy victories, though the Hurricanes will likely give the Panthers a fight in Coral Gables.

Big 12

Oklahoma Sooners (17-5, 6-3) at West Virginia Mountaineers (13-9, 5-4), 7 p.m. (ESPNU)

Starting tonight, eight of the Mountaineers' final nine regular season games come against teams with legitimate NCAA hopes. Bob Huggins' team will need to win at least five of them to have a chance of its own.

Big Ten

Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-9, 3-5) at Michigan Wolverines (16-5, 8-1), 6:30 p.m. (BTN)
Minnesota Golden Gophers (15-7, 4-5) at Purdue Boilermakers (13-9, 3-6), 8:30 p.m. (BTN)

The Cornhuskers only home Big Ten loss came at the hands of the Wolverines, by a single point back on January 9th. They likely won't have as much success in Ann Arbor tonight, particularly since Michigan is coming off a disappointing loss to Indiana. In the nightcap, the Golden Gophers will look to end their two-game skid while extending the struggling Boilermakers' four-game losing streak in the process. A loss in West Lafayette would send Minnesota even further down the bubble pecking order.

Mountain West

Nevada Wolf Pack (12-10, 7-2) at Utah State Aggies (12-9. 2-7), 9 p.m. (ROOT Sports*/MWN, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mountain West Connection)
Fresno State Bulldogs (9-13, 2-7) at Air Force Falcons (9-11. 3-6), 9 p.m. (MWN, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mountain West Connection)
UNLV Runnin' Rebels (15-7, 6-3) at Colorado State Rams (12-10, 3-6), 9 p.m. (ESPN3)
San Diego State Aztecs (19-1, 8-0) at Boise State Broncos (15-7, 5-4), 9:15 p.m. (CBS SN)
Wyoming Cowboys (14-7, 5-3) at New Mexico Lobos (17-4, 8-1), 11 p.m. (ESPNU)

The game of the night in the Mountain West sees the desperate Broncos looking to hand the Aztecs their first conference loss. Elsewhere, the Lobos will attempt to hold serve -- and potentially sneak into first if things go wrong for SDSU -- against the Cowboys, while the Runnin' Rebels cannot afford a letdown in Fort Collins.

Pac-12

Stanford Cardinal (14-7, 5-4) at California Golden Bears (15-7, 6-3), 9 p.m. (ESPN2)
Washington State Cougars (9-12, 2-7) at Colorado Buffaloes (16-6, 5-4), 9:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Network)

The Golden Bears, who defeated the Cardinal by seven to open league play, can earn a season sweep and potential seeding edge with a win in Berkeley tonight. Over in Boulder, the Buffaloes will look to defeat the Cougars for the second time this season, though they needed an extra five minutes to knock Wazzu out in Spokane.

SEC

Auburn Tigers (10-9, 2-6) at South Carolina Gamecocks (8-13, 1-7), 7 p.m. (ESPN3)
Alabama Crimson Tide (9-12, 3-5) at Arkansas Razorbacks (13-8, 2-6), 8 p.m. (SEC TV/ESPN3)
Tennessee Volunteers (14-7, 5-3) at Vanderbilt Commodores (12-8, 4-4), 8 p.m. (ESPN3)
Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-8, 3-5) at Texas A&M Aggies (12-9, 3-5), 9 p.m. (SEC on CSS/ESPN3)

From a bracket perspective, just only one of these games matters, and that's the Volunteers' trip to Nashville, where they'll be in search of their third win at Memorial Gym in four seasons. The Commodores, who have struggled to score all season, are 2-2 on their unconventional home floor during SEC play.

WCC: Portland Pilots (13-10, 5-6) at Gonzaga Bulldogs (20-3, 10-1), 11 p.m. (KHQ/ROOT Sports/TheW.tv, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)

Big South leader Coastal Carolina hosts preseason favorite High Point in one of the more interesting mid-major games of the night. Elsewhere, American will put its undefeated Patriot League record on the line in Baltimore, while Gonzaga cannot get caught looking ahead to Saturday's primetime showdown with Memphis when Portland visits the Kennel.
