"I Slept On It" is Blogging the Bracket's nearly daily roundup of the previous night's college basketball action, with a bracketology focus.
ACC
Syracuse (26-2, 13-3) led Maryland (15-13, 7-8) by a dozen points with 5:45 left in College Park, but still needed a near miracle to defeat the Terrapins, 57-55. While Tyler Ennis scored 20 for the Orange and C.J. Fair contributed 17, the Orange needed a Baye Moussa Keita block of a Nick Faust shot to save the day. Making matters worse for the Orange, Jerami Grant left the game in the second half with a back injury.
The Orange will remain on the top line of this week's bracket, but a loss last night would have certainly put that position in doubt. A difficult trip to Charlottesville to play Virginia Cavaliers for the ACC lead is next on the schedule. That matchup comes up on Saturday afternoon.
Big 12
Once again, for the tenth season in a row, Kansas (22-6, 13-2) will own a share of the Big 12 title, following an 83-75 win over Oklahoma(20-8, 9-6). Naadir Tharpe led the Jayhawks, who had all starters hit double figures, with 19 points.
Oklahoma State (18-10, 6-9) will return to Tuesday's projection following Monday night's 76-54 victory at woeful TCU (9-18, 0-15). Phil Forte III led the Cowboys in scoring with 23, while Marcus Smart scored 17 and dished out seven assists in his second game back from suspension.
