College Hoops Viewing Guide: February 22, 2014

Much like on February 1st, Duke and Syracuse and Kansas and Texas will take center stage. Only this time, the venues will be different.

All TV info is courtesy Matt's College Sports on TV site. He has many more games listed, particularly ones broadcast only on local channels and in-house cable sports/local interest channels that are not widely available nationwide. You'll also want to check out his listings for information on which conference regional matchups and CSN, FSN, and Root Sports contests (all games listed in these posts marked with an *) are available on which affiliates.

All times are Eastern.

Late Morning/Early Afternoon Window

Marquee Games

Xavier Musketeers (18-8, 8-5 Big East) at Georgetown Hoyas (15-11, 6-8), 11:30 a.m. (FS1)

This is a crucial matchup between a pair of Big East teams that are hanging out near the cut line. The Musketeers won the first meeting back on January 15th in Cincinnati by a 13-point margin. That was the first of five straight defeats for the Hoyas.

Florida Gators (24-2, 13-0 SEC) at Mississippi Rebels (16-10, 7-6), 12 p.m. (CBS Regional)

Last season, the Rebels denied the Gators the SEC regular season/tournament double. Don't think that won't be on Florida's mind on Saturday afternoon, Of course, if the Gators play like they did on Wednesday against Auburn, they might taste defeat in league play for the first time.

Louisville Cardinals (22-4, 11-2 AAC) at Cincinnati Bearcats (24-3, 13-1), 12 p.m. (CBS Regional)

The Cardinals can put themselves in prime position for the American regular season crown and an improved seed with a win in Cincinnati. The Bearcats held off the defending national champs in Louisville back on January 30th.

Wisconsin Badgers (21-5, 8-5 Big Ten) at Iowa Hawkeyes (19-6, 8-4), 12 p.m. (ESPN)

These two Top 16 contenders played out a 75-71 Badger win in Madison back on January 5th. It was a game more known for Fran McCaffery's temper tantrum and ejection than the result.

Other Viewing Options

Clemson Tigers (16-9, 7-6 ACC) at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (13-13, 4-9), 12 p.m. (ACC RSNs*/ESPN3)
Boston College Eagles (7-19, 3-10 ACC) at Miami Hurricanes (13-13, 4-9), 12 p.m. (ACC Network Regional*/ESPN3)
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (14-12, 4-9 ACC) at North Carolina Tar Heels (19-7, 9-4), 12 p.m. (ACC Network Regional*/ESPN3)
Buffalo Bulls (15-8, 9-4 MAC) at Kent State Golden Flashes (15-11, 6-7), 12 p.m. (TWCS*/ESPN3)
Indiana State Sycamores (21-6, 12-3) at Missouri State Bears (17-10, 7-8), 1 p.m. (ESPNU)

Also in this window, the Tar Heels will attempt to avenge an ACC-season-opening loss to Wake, while Indiana State can move closer to earning the two seed at Arch Madness.

Mid-Afternoon Window

Marquee Games

St. John's Red Storm (18-9, 8-6 Big East) at Villanova Wildcats (23-3, 11-2), 1:30 p.m. (FS1)

A victory would be the seventh in a row for the Red Storm and would really push them above the rest of the Big East's bubble squads.

Baylor Bears (17-9, 5-8 Big 12) at West Virginia Mountaineers (15-11, 7-6), 1:30 p.m. (Big 12 Network Regional*/ESPN3)

The winner of this one will likely be in Tuesday's bracket. The Mountaineers already defeated the Bears in Waco, a win that started them on their midseason renaissance.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-13, 5-8 Big 12) at Oklahoma State Cowboys (16-10, 4-9), 1:30 p.m. (Big 12 Network Regional*/ESPN3)

Marcus Smart returns from his three-game suspension this afternoon, but will his presence be enough to get the Cowboys, losers of seven in a row, back on track?

Other Viewing Options

Georgia Bulldogs (14-11, 8-5 SEC) at South Carolina Gamecocks (10-16, 3-10), 1:30 p.m. (SEC TV/ESPN3)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-13, 5-9 ACC) at Virginia Cavaliers (22-5, 13-1), 2 p.m. (ESPN/ESPN2)
UCF Knights (10-14, 2-11 AAC) at Houston Cougars (12-14, 4-9), 2 p.m. (ESPNews)
Marquette Golden Eagles (15-11, 7-6 Big East) at DePaul Blue Demons (10-17, 2-12), 2 p.m. (CBS SN)
Army Black Knights (13-13, 9-6 Patriot) at American U. Eagles (15-11, 11-4), 2 p.m. (CSN Mid-Atlantic Plus/Patriot League Network, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)
Loyola, Md. Greyhounds (10-16, 5-10 Patriot) at Colgate Red Raiders (9-17, 3-12), 2 p.m. (Patriot League Network, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)
N.C. State Wolfpack (16-10, 6-7 ACC) at Virginia Tech Hokies (9-16, 2-11), 2 p.m. (ACC RSNs*/ESPN3)
Milwaukee Panthers (16-11, 6-7 Horizon) at Cleveland State Vikings (18-10, 9-4), 2 p.m. (TWCS Wisconsin/Horizon League Network)
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (20-7, 10-2 C-USA) at Marshall Thundering Herd (9-18, 3-9), 2 p.m. (CSS*)
Tennessee Volunteers (16-10, 7-6 SEC) at Texas A&M Aggies (15-11, 6-7), 3 p.m. (ESPNU)
UAB Blazers (16-10, 5-7 C-USA) at Charlotte 49ers (14-11, 5-7), 3:30 p.m. (FS1)
UMass-Lowell Riverhawks (8-18, 6-8 AE) at New Hampshire Wildcats (6-20, 4-9), 3:30 p.m. (FCS Pacific)

Virginia can solidify its place at the top of the ACC with a win and Syracuse loss later on. In the SEC, Tennessee probably won't make the field of 68 if it's swept by struggling Texas A&M.

Late Afternoon Window

Marquee Games

LSU Tigers (16-9, 7-6 SEC) at Kentucky Wildcats (20-6, 10-3), 4 p.m. (ESPN)

On January 28, the Tigers defeated the Wildcats in Baton Rouge and looked to be on their way. However, after going 3-3 since, LSU will need to pull an upset today to improve their fading chances.

Kansas State Wildcats (18-8, 8-5) at Oklahoma Sooners (19-7, 8-5), 4 p.m. (Big 12 Network*/ESPN3)

It's yet another rematch, as the Wildcats' balance proved to be too much for the Sooners back on January 14th in Manhattan. The Sooners, who have lost to West Virginia and Texas Tech recently, probably need this one a bit more than the Wildcats, who have recorded recent wins over the Big 12's top two.

Other Viewing Options

Iowa State Cyclones (20-5, 8-5 Big 12) at TCU Horned Frogs (9-16, 0-13), 4 p.m. (ESPN2)
La Salle Explorers (12-13, 4-7 A 10) at Richmond Spiders (17-9, 7-4), 4 p.m. (CBS SN)
Arkansas Razorbacks (17-9, 6-7 SEC) at Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-13, 3-10), 4 p.m. (SEC TV/ESPN3)
Washington Huskies (14-13, 6-8 Pac-12) at Oregon State Beavers (14-11, 6-7), 4 p.m. (Pac-12 Network)
Northeastern Huskies (9-19, 6-8 CAA) at William & Mary Tribe (16-10, 8-5), 4 p.m. (CSN*)
Nevada Wolf Pack (12-15, 7-7 MW) at Air Force Falcons (10-14, 4-9), 4 p.m. (MWN, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mountain West Connection)
St. Mary's Gaels (19-9, 9-6 WCC) at Santa Clara Broncos (12-16, 5-10), 4 p.m. (TheW.tv*, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)
Youngstown State Penguins (15-13, 6-7 Horizon) at Valparaiso Crusaders (16-12, 8-5), 4 p.m. (Horizon League Network/CSN Chicago/FS Sportstime Ohio/ESPN3)
Liberty Flames (9-19, 3-10 Big South) at Campbell Fighting Camels (12-16, 6-7), 4 p.m. (ESPN3)
Western Illinois Leathernecks (9-17, 3-8 Summit) at South Dakota Coyotes (11-15, 5-6), 5 p.m. (Midco SN/FCS Central)

Bubble teams Arkansas, Richmond, and St. Mary's will all be in action against winnable opposition during the late afternoon hours on the East Coast.

Early Evening Window

Marquee Games

UCLA Bruins (21-5, 10-3 Pac-12) at Stanford Cardinal (17-8, 8-5), 6 p.m. (ESPN2)

The Bruins, who throttled California on Wednesday night, will look to complete a resounding Bay Area sweep against the Cardinal, who could use yet another quality win of their own.

Minnesota Golden Gophers (17-10, 6-8 Big Ten) at Ohio State Buckeyes (21-6, 8-6), 6 p.m. (BTN)

Back on January 16th, the Golden Gophers took out the Buckeyes at Williams Arena. They'll need to complete the sweep to make up for the damage done by Wednesday's loss to woeful Illinois.

Ohio Bobcats (18-8, 8-5 MAC) at Akron Zips (17-9, 9-4), 6 p.m. (TWCS*/ESPN3)

These two played an 83-80 double-OT classic in Athens on January 12th, a game won by the Zips. Expect a similar result at Rhodes Arena on Saturday night, as these two teams simply bring the best out of each other.

UTEP Miners (20-7, 10-2 C-USA) at Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (22-5, 9-3), 6 p.m. (CBS SN)

With only one C-USA team likely to go dancing, seeding in the conference tournament, to be played at the Haskins Center will be crucial. These two are in the thick of the hunt for the No. 1 nod.

Syracuse Orange (25-1, 12-1 ACC) at Duke Blue Devils (21-6, 10-4), 7 p.m. (ESPN)

While Syracuse is likely to be angry after dropping its first game of the season on Wednesday night, Duke will relish the chance to take on the Orange at Cameron, considering how close the pair's first meeting was, and the Blue Devils' foul issues in that contest. Oh, there's also that matter of Thursday night's loss in Chapel Hill.

Texas Longhorns (20-6, 9-4 Big 12) at Kansas Jayhawks (20-6, 11-2), 7:30 p.m. (ESPNU)

The Longhorns dominated from tip off on February 1st in Austin en route to a 12-point win. They likely won't be able to do the same in Lawrence, especially since a win would bring the hosts a bit closer to yet another Big 12 regular season crown.

Other Viewing Options

Vanderbilt Commodores (14-11, 6-7 SEC) at Auburn Tigers (12-12, 4-9), 6 p.m. (SEC on FSN*/ESPN3)
Wyoming Cowboys (17-9, 8-5 MW) at Colorado State Rams (14-13, 5-9), 6 p.m. (ROOT Sports*/MWN, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mountain West Connection)
Pacific Tigers (14-12, 5-10 WCC) at San Francisco Dons (17-10, 10-5), 6 p.m. (CSN California/TWCS/TheW.tv, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)
Wofford Terriers (16-10, 10-3 SoCon) at Davidson Wildcats (16-11, 12-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN3)
St. Peter's Peacocks (10-16, 6-11 MAAC) at Monmouth Hawks (10-18, 4-13), 7 p.m. (ESPN3)

Out of this group, the potential SoCon championship matchup on ESPN3 is your best bet.

Mid- And Late Evening Windows

Marquee Games

George Washington Colonials (20-6, 8-4 A 10) at Saint Louis Billikens (24-2, 11-0), 8 p.m. (FS Midwest/CSN Mid-Atlantic Plus/SNY/A10 Network, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mid-Major Madness)

The Colonials took care of business in their first road game this week, defeating Richmond by eight. Tonight, they'll look to do what their Beltway rivals from George Mason twice failed to do, hand the Billikens their first conference loss.

Arizona Wildcats (24-2, 11-2 Pac-12) at Colorado Buffaloes (20-7, 9-5), 9 p.m. (ESPN)

If the Buffaloes can follow up Wednesday's win over Arizona State with a victory over the Wildcats, they should be able to rest easy on Selection Sunday. Remember, Arizona needed overtime to defeat Utah in its last outing.

San Diego State Aztecs (23-2, 12-1 MW) at New Mexico Lobos (20-5, 11-2), 10 p.m. (ESPN2)

Since this is the first of two meetings between these two before the end of the regular season, the Mountain West race is far from settled. The Lobos travel to San Diego on March 8th.

Other Viewing Options

Missouri Tigers (19-7, 7-6 SEC) at Alabama Crimson Tide (10-16, 4-9), 8 p.m. (ESPN2)

UNLV Runnin' Rebels (17-9, 8-5 MW) at Boise St. Broncos (17-9, 7-6), 8 p.m. (CBS SN)
Indiana Hoosiers (14-11, 4-8 Big Ten) at Northwestern Wildcats (12-15, 5-9), 8 p.m. (BTN)

Portland Pilots (15-12, 7-8 WCC) at BYU Cougars (19-10, 11-5), 9 p.m. (BYU TV)
Fresno State Bulldogs (13-14, 6-8 MW) at Utah State Aggies (15-11, 5-9), 10 p.m. (MWN, streaming directly at SB Nation's Mountain West Connection)

Gonzaga Bulldogs (23-5, 13-2 WCC) at San Diego Toreros (15-14, 6-10), 12 a.m. (ESPN2)

* Records will change due to Friday games.

Also in the later hours of Saturday, Wichita State can pick up its 29th-consecutive victory when Drake visits, Missouri looks to avoid a bad SEC road loss at Alabama, and Harvard looks to stay in touch with Yale in the Ivy race.
