College Hoops Viewing Guide: December 6, 2013

On Thursday, the Big 12 took a 4-2 lead in its challenge series with the SEC, despite West Virginia's failed rally at Missouri. TCU opened the night with a win at Mississippi State, in a meeting of teams likely to finish at the bottom of the two leagues. Finally, Marshall Henderson's airballed three attempt in the final seconds gave Kansas State a big home win over Ole Miss. The Big 12 will likely clinch at least a tie tonight, thanks to the first of the two matchups on the late evening slate.

SEC/Big 12 Challenge

South Carolina Gamecocks (2-2) at Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-1), 9:30 p.m. (ESPNU)
Ah, the difficulties of scheduling one of these challenges. Couldn't the conferences have managed to give the Cowboys a slightly more challenging (and RPI-boosting) opponent? Of course, the Gamecocks gave Baylor all it could handle during the Tip-Off Marathon in a game played in Waco.

Kentucky Wildcats (7-1) vs. Baylor Bears (7-1) at Arlington, Texas, 10 p.m. (ESPN)
Speaking of the Bears, they welcome the preseason No. 1 of many to the home of this season's Final Four. Scott Drew's team will look to repeat its upset of a season ago, which looked to be a fairly big deal on December 1st -- months before both teams ended up in the NIT.

Other Game Of Note

Arizona State Sun Devils (7-2) at DePaul Blue Demons (4-3), 7 p.m. FS1
After a disappointing 1-2 showing in the Wooden Legacy, the Sun Devils' at-large hopes would be damaged further with a loss to the Blue Demons. Of course, DePaul tripped up Oregon State last weekend.
