Orange Bowl Classic Intrigue Means A Second Straight Florida Vs. Big 12 Matchup

Per Chuck King of Florida Atlantic blog, FAUOwlAccess, the matchups for December 17th's Orange Bowl Classic are set, even though the organizers have yet to announce them officially. Game one will feature Mike Jarvis' Owls and the Miami Hurricanes, who will be led by new head coach Jim Larranaga.

King writes this matchup is taking place in Sunrise--not in Boca Raton as planned--because FAU's presumed Classic opponent, the Florida Gators, deferred their meeting in favor of a second straight Orange Bowl Classic game against a Big 12 opponent. Billy Donovan's team will take on Billy Kennedy's Texas A&M squad in what should be an exciting nightcap.

The Gators defeated Kansas State, 57-44, in the second game of last year's doubleheader, while Miami lost to UCF, 84-78, in the power outage-delayed opener.

This will be the second FAU-Miami contest in three years, as the Hurricanes used a strong second half to defeat the Owls 87-69 in the 2009 edition.
