A week ago I wrote that N.C. State was negotiating to be the fourth host of the Legends Classic. A Wednesday press release from the Gazelle Group confirmed the Wolfpack's participation, along with the three other major conference schools rumored to be participating, Texas, Vanderbilt, and Oregon State.
After all of the Longhorns' defections over recent weeks, the Commodores have to be considered the very early favorite to claim the title.
There are two significant changes relating to the event; however, the location and dates of the final tournament. After two years in Atlantic City, the Legends Classic returns to the New York metropolitan area, as the the finals will be held at the Meadowlands' Izod Center. The first two tournaments wrapped up at the Prudential Center in nearby Newark. Plus, the event moves to the weekend before Thanksgiving, with a day off between games, from its traditional (if you can call anything related to a four-year old tournament by that term) Thanksgiving weekend slot.
I've updated the 2011 Early Season Event page with the info from this post.
