College Basketball Viewer's Guide For December 10

The best way I can describe the TV slate for tonight is by a quasi-mathematical equation.

End of semester + a Friday night = Not many choices

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that the Big Ten Network has a doubleheader tonight, and that it features opposition from Big Seven conferences, as these are typically the leagues that take Friday nights off during the regular season, starting, oh, right...about...now.

If a team's name appears as a link, click it to visit that school's SB Nation blog for more coverage.

  • Utah at Michigan, Big Ten Network (6:30 p.m. ET): Last season, the Utes weren't very good, but they did go 2-0 against the Big Ten, topping Illinois in Las Vegas, a defeat that likely cost the Fighting Illini a bid, and the Wolverines in Salt Lake City. This year, this series shifts to Ann Arbor, where an improved Utah team will look to grab a second straight win over a Michigan team that's been a minor surprise so far.
  • Iowa State at Iowa, Big Ten Network (8:30 p.m. ET): The Hawkeyes won the first of three straight contests against in-state opposition on Tuesday, as they took out Northern Iowa in an ugly, defensive contest, holding the Panthers to 27.3% from the field. They'll hope to do the same to a Cyclone team, who already fell to UNI, this evening at home.

For information about games that will be aired regionally, like Fairfield at Siena and Navy at Mercer, visit Matt Sarz's College Sports on TV site. Another good resource is the schedule page at BB State.

Please share your thoughts about today and tonight's action in the comments, after you sign up for a free SB Nation account, of course.
