College Hoops Go-Round: January 16

Friday was a quiet night for the major conferences but there were a few mid-major games on the night's schedule.

  • Mercer stayed in the pack that's a game behind Campbell in the loss column in the A-Sun. The Bears sneaked past USC-Upstate, 60-57.
  • Weber State is alone on top of the Big Sky. That's because Northern Colorado fell 85-69 at Portland State. Montana stays two games back in the loss column as they escaped Sacramento State, 57-56. In the bottom half of the league, Northern Arizona defeated Eastern Washington, 73-69.
  • In the lone Horizon game of the night, Loyola of Chicago won their city battle, 55-50, at Illinois-Chicago.
  • Ivy League play is slowly starting. Brown won at Yale, 75-66, to get their campaign started right.
  • There were two MAAC games on the schedule. Loyola (MD) defeated Marist, 68-61, in a nationally televised battle at the bottom. Meanwhile, St. Peter's defeated Rider, 77-66, to stay three games behind Siena in the loss column.
  • North Dakota State topped rivals South Dakota State, 79-67, in the lone Summit League game of the night.
