Tournament Week Viewing Guide: December 1, 2013

Saturday's action wasn't quite as intense as Friday's series of close finishes, but the evening finished strong (at least until Harvard blew out TCU to win the Great Alaska Shootout). That's because Kansas had a devil of a time defeating a feisty UTEP outfit in the Battle 4 Atlantis third-place game just before Villanova came back from 15 points down to defeat Iowa for the championship.

Virginia easily claimed the Corpus Christi Challenge by routing Missouri State, while Mississippi held off Penn State to win the Barclays Center Classic.

Today, the Old Spice Classic and Wooden Legacy wrap up, with a few non-tournament games of note also on the schedule.

Tournament Week Viewing Guide: November 30, 2013

This November Saturday dominated by football will be hard pressed to match yesterday's drama. While Arizona's win over Duke in the NIT Season Tip-Off final grabbed most of the nation's attention on Friday, a few other contests met or exceeded the top six showdown in terms of excitement. For starters, the Blue Devil-Wildcat showdown started late thanks to triple overtime in the third-place game at Madison Square Garden, won by Drexel over Alabama. Oklahoma State needed a block at the buzzer to knock Butler out of the Old Spice Classic, while Memphis got all they could handle from LSU in the event's second semifinal. Florida slipped past Florida State by the minimum margin in their pre-football meeting. Ryan Arcidiacano late three gave Villanova a stunning win over Kansas in the second Battle 4 Atlantis semifinal not long after San Diego State held off Creighton in the Wooden Legacy.

This Saturday sees finals in the Bahamas and Anchorage, among other sites.

Tournament Week Viewing Guide: Thanksgiving Day

On Thanksgiving Eve, Syracuse (7-0) ended Baylor's (6-1) run as the team with the nation's longest winning streak, as the Orange claimed its third Maui Invitational title in as many attempts (1990, 1998) with a 74-67 win. In Cancun, Wisconsin ran its record to 8-0 with a 70-63 win over West Virginia (5-2) in an entertaining final. Down the road from me in suburban Fort Myers, Louisiana Tech (5-1) toppled St. Bonaventure (5-2) to claim the inaugural Gulf Coast Showcase championship.

Today, there are no finals on the agenda, but quarterfinal action from Anchorage, the Bahamas, and points in between will fill your TV and computer screens with holiday hoops.

Tournament Week Viewing Guide: 11/27/2013

Tuesday night's pair of finals saw Wichita State (7-0) pull away from BYU (5-2) late in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, thanks to some late chippiness. Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, Pittsburgh (6-0) blasted Stanford (5-2) easily to claim the Legends Classic crown. Tonight, trophies will be earned in Lahaina, Cancun, and Estero.
