Friday will see a champion crowned in the NIT Season Tip-Off, while a host of tournaments reach the semifinal stage.
Friday's slate is jammed packed, so let's get right to the schedule...
NIT Season Tip-Off Finals
at New York City
Action resumes after the four teams had Thursday off to enjoy the sights of New York City, eat turkey, and (probably) practice for today's matchups. In the consolation game, Delaware will look to become the second CAA team to finish third in this event in three years. Later, in the final, Michigan will look to continue its recent dominance over Bruce Weber-coached teams.
Picks: Michigan and Pittsburgh
Old Spice Classic Semifinals
at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (Full Bracket)
West Virginia opened Thursday's quadruple-header with a resounding win over Marist, just missing out on doubling up the Red Foxes. The Mountaineers will face Davidson, who also had a fairly easy afternoon, as the Wildcats dropped Vanderbilt by 13. In the evening session, Oklahoma opened its contest with UTEP with a 15-0 run, but needed to hold on for dear life to defeat the Miners by seven. The nightcap saw Gonzaga handcuffed by Clemson's defense in the first half, before the Bulldogs adjusted to the Tigers' slow pace and broke through for an eight-point victory.
Final Pick: Davidson vs. Gonzaga
Old Spice Classic Consolation
Battle 4 Atlantis Semifinals
at Paradise Island, Bahamas (Full Bracket)
Missouri topped Stanford to earn a semifinal berth in game one. Duke, who shot 80 percent from beyond the arc and got only two bench points, routed Minnesota to wrap up the afternoon session. In the night games, VCU pulled away from Memphis late, thanks to some deadly perimeter shooting and Tiger foul issues. Meanwhile, Louisville appeared to have Northern Iowa blown out, despite a poor shooting night, until the Panthers roared back in the latter stages of the second half. The Cardinals ended up advancing by just five.
Final Pick: VCU vs. Louisville
Battle 4 Atlantis Consolation
Directv Classic Semifinals
at Anaheim, Calif. (Full Bracket)
Friday's first semifinal will be an unexpected matchup of future West Coast Conference rivals, as Pacific got past Xavier by a 70-67 score and St. Mary's rolled past Drexel, thanks to a 32-point afternoon from Matthew Dellavedova. The night session semi will feature Georgia Tech, who had little trouble with Rice, and California, who defeated Drake by just three in a contest that was razor-close to the end.
Final Pick: St. Mary's vs. California
Directv Classic Consolation
South Padre Invitational Semifinals
at South Padre Island, Tex.
CBS Sports Network will televise both the consolation and championship games tomorrow, but the semifinals won't be aired. Illinois State and Northwestern would like to grab two wins here for bubble purposes come March (and set up an all-Land of Lincoln final in the process), while TCU and UAB will look to surprise and to start building cases of their own.
Final Picks: Illinois State vs. Northwestern; Delaware State vs. Prairie View
Las Vegas Invitational Semifinals
at Las Vegas, Nev.
Sure, the night's second semifinal looks like it should be the final, but don't rule out the Arizona State-Arkansas winner taking the crown on Saturday, particularly if it ends up being a dangerous Razorback team.
Final Picks: Arkansas vs. Creighton; Florida A&M vs. Cornell
Global Sports Classic
at Las Vegas, Nev.
Cincinnati and UNLV should be in contention for a protected seed at the end of the season, while Iowa State and Oregon will look to grab a win or two at the Thomas & Mack to give their selection hopes an early boost.
Final Picks: Cincinnati at UNLV; Campbell vs. Jacksonville State
Great Alaska Shootout Semifinals
at Anchorage, Alaska (Full Bracket)
Oral Roberts handled Loyola Marymount while Charlotte took care of Texas State to join Wednesday winners Belmont and Northeastern in tonight's semifinal round.
Final Pick: Belmont vs. Oral Roberts
Great Alaska Shootout Consolation
