Just because this news was expected (especially given rumors of the great man's passing last night) doesn't make it any easier to write about.
Legendary UCLA head coach John Wooden passed away this evening at the age of 99 in Los Angeles.
God Bless and Rest in Peace, Coach, and may you soon be with your beloved Nell.
Thank you for everything you've done for our game, which wouldn't be the same without your many contributions. You were truly an American original.
