Around SBN: 2011 In Extreme Home Runs

Regional Semifinal Friday Open Thread

The eight teams playing in Houston and St. Louis tonight will have a hard time matching the excitement of last night's West Regional Semifinals in Salt Lake City, where Butler stunned the region's top seed, Syracuse, and Kansas State defeated Xavier in a double-overtime thriller.

In the South Regional in Houston, 10th-seeded St. Mary's will look to continue their run, as they face third-seeded Baylor. Afterward, top seed Duke takes on four seed Purdue, who's done well to get this far without Robbie Hummel.

The Midwest Regional Semis in St. Louis feature second-seeded Ohio State taking on Tennessee, in a rematch of a Sweet 16 game from 2007. The nightcap sees Northern Iowa in search of a third-straight win, this time against fifth-seeded Michigan State, who will play their first full game without Kalin Lucas.

Be sure to check out my full Friday Regional Semifinal Preview that's up at SB Nation.

I will be tweeting @BracketDobber as always. I should be a bit more active tonight, as I don't have to get up for work in the morning.

i would love it if three teams not from the big six conferences made it to the elite 8.

not only would it be good for college basketball. it would be good for college football as well. it would prove the mid majors can play with the so called big boys and beat them multiple times.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! "There Will BE Blood"
