NIT (And CBI/CIT)-ology: February 24

If you think picking 34 at-large teams for the NCAA Tournament is difficult this season, picking another 64 for the NIT, CBI, and CollegeInsider.com Tournament isn't going to be much of a picnic either.

North Carolina is still in the NIT field and Arizona sneaks in as well. Keep in mind that while there is no rule stating a team has to have a record above .500 to be selected, no team with a losing mark has yet to be chosen. With that in mind, I've kept that principle in place until the NIT Selection Committee says otherwise.

The CBI could have a semifinal round featuring Boston College, UCLA, Michigan and Arkansas. If UNC loses a few more games, they could trump the Razorbacks in the South region.

After the jump, I'll have the projections for college basketball's other three postseason tournaments.

I hope Notre Dame chooses the CBI

I’ve watched them in the NIT a million times, and while I enjoy that, I’d like to see them mix it up.

Why?

Why would they ‘mix it up’ and choose a less prominent, less profitable (or higher losses) tournament?

MWC Teams

If SDSU is a first four out of the NCAA and the NIT picks them up do you think that Colorado State gets kicked to the curb?

They might, it just depends on what the NIT committee has seen Colorado St. do...

If they saw only the UNLV game about a week ago, then the Rams are screwed. If they saw the games they did do well, they shouldn’t get kicked to the curb

I'm a little surprised that you don't have Texas Tech in any of these tournaments

The Red Raiders should finish 16-14 or so and have a decent RPI. What gives?

What about Colorado???

They are finishing strong, and should be at least a bubble NIT team, and they beat Texas Tech, who should also be considered, even with losing the last 7
