Season Preview Preview

As you've probably read elsewhere on SBNation, Kansas football players and basketball players have been engaged in a series of skirmishes on the Lawrence campus.  Tyshawn Taylor is going to be out from 3 to 4 weeks because of a dislocated thumb suffered in one of the fights.

And you know what, in the grand scheme of things, it won't mean that much to the Jayhawks, as we are now a little less than 6 weeks from the official start of the season on Monday, November 9.  That means it's time for me to get to work on previewing the 2009-10 college basketball season.  There's a lot of info to cover, so I'm going to do this systematically.

  • Tomorrow evening, I'll begin a look at early-season multi-team events, starting with a look at which conferences are getting the bulk of appearances in this year's tournaments.  On Saturday, September 26, I'll have a breakdown of the biggest events of the non-conference season.
  • On Sunday, September 27, I'll share with you the main stories I'll be watching during the coming season.
  • Between Tuesday and Friday of next week (Sept. 29-October 2), I'm going to take you through the regular season, night by night, with a single game to watch during the evening.
  •  I'll present my first ever Preseason All-Freshman teams on Saturday, October 3, with the Preseason All-Transfer teams following the next day.
  • On Monday, October 5, I'll take a two day break from the players to take a look at the coaching changes made during the offseason, including Army, who just fired Jim Crews TODAY.
  • On Wednesday, October 7, I'll post my first ever Preseason All-America teams.
  • On Thursday, October 8, we'll be one month and one day away from the start of the season.  Over the next 32 days, I'll have 32 conference previews.  These will appear in somewhat of a random order.  How I organized them is an exercise for the reader, not that it really matters in the big picture.
  • Finally, on Monday, November 9--Opening Night--I'll present my final preseason bracket, for purely comedic purposes.

I'll have some kind of widget or pinned post to serve as a table of contents for the preview as it grows.  I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the new season as we move closer to it.

Before I end this post, I'd like to invite you to visit our newest SBN College sites: BC Interruption (Boston College), From the Rumble Seat (Georgia Tech), and Sippin' On Purple (Northwestern).
