After Further Review...Refs Got It Wrong

Devendorf releases a shot at the end of regulation time of the marathon game between UConn and Syracuse last night.   It is too close to call.  The ref at the scene of the crime rules the basket counts.  Even after the reviewing the replay, which the whole country saw ad nauseum, it still appeared to close to call.  So, when it doubt, the ref should have left the call as it was.  I saw nothing on the replay to completely convince me that the basket should have been disallowed.

ESPN Crew did a great job

breaking down the video replay frame by frame and had the shot paused with the light on and the ball still in Devo’s hand. It was close, but definitely the right call. I think Bilas mentioned that in any last second situation the refs are told to call the shot good, because if they don’t it can’t be replayed. His team won anyway, but it was the right call.

100% Agree

From what ESPN gave us (and they gave us some great shots, kudos to them), it was clearly obvious he let go with the clock at 00:00. Yes, it was ridiculously close, but in this technological day and age where we have huge HD screens and frame-by-frame shots from perfect angles, you can get every call right, and this one was absolutely called correct here.

Regardless

It was an amazing play by Devendorf. Sure, it did not count, but having that quick a release to catch and fire up a three was incredible.

that is for sure..

Devendorf does have a very quick release…just not quick enough according to the refs and ESPN…my point is if you have to look at replays 15 or 20 times before you are even close to being convinced..if you have to use a high powered telescope, the kind usually reserved for NASA, maybe they should have left that call stand

Agreed

That’s what replay is for. To get the call right.

This is the right call, please refer to my screenshot

My theory on why Andy Reid doesn't like running the football.

When Andy Reid was 6, his parents wanted him to lose some weight and always asked him to go to the park and run, Annoyed, Andy said "No I'll pass".
